The Arizona Coyotes are going to hold a viewing party on June 26th for the NHL Draft and they’ll be unveiling some new uniforms in the process. The Coyotes are reportedly planning a big change to their jersey and the entire uniform for the 2015-16 season, but are planning to retain their primary Coyotes logo.
Based on the report seen over on AZ Central, the Coyotes are making a “major change” as opposed to some of the subtle changes seen over the past several years or the inclusion of an alternate sweater. To date, no leaks or rumors have indicated what the major change might be, outside of the fact the primary howling Coyotes logo will still be prominently featured.
The upcoming change is the first major uniform alteration for the Coyotes since 2003. Considering the other major changes the organization has seen (ownership and ditching “Phoenix” for “Arizona”), a significant uniform change is probably due. When a new owner comes in, the uniforms usually change within a few years (see: St. Louis Blues) as the new owner aims to put their own personal mark on the franchise.
Stay tuned. Leaks almost always happen, so we should know what the Coyotes will look like in the near future.
