The Boston Bruins are now three years removed from winning the NHL’s greatest prize, having watched the Los Angeles Kings (twice) and Chicago Blackhawks each hoist the Stanley Cup over the past three years. Nonetheless, that has not deterred the Boston faithful from seeing their team play as the average price for Bruins tickets in 2014-15 is currently $216.
Below is a breakdown of their top five most expensive games in 2014-15, led off by a familiar foe who got the best of them during last year’s postseason.
November 22, 2014 | vs. Montreal Canadiens | Average Ticket Price = $320 | Get-in Price = $126
At an average ticket price of $320, the November 22nd matchup between these two teams trumps the list for most expensive games on the secondary market for Bruins tickets. As mentioned above, the Canadiens got the best of the Bruins last year in the Eastern Conference semifinals, winning the final two games by a combined 7-1 score, including a 3-1 Game 7 victory in Boston. The Bruins are still smarting from the loss and certainly want to avenge last year’s fall with this late November matchup.
March 28, 2015 | vs. New York Rangers | Average Ticket Price = $308 | Get-in Price = $97
The defending Eastern Conference champion New York Rangers will visit the TD Garden on March 28th. Currently, Bruins vs. NY Rangers tickets are the second most expensive game on the Bruins schedule in 2014-15. The Rangers did what the Bruins could not last year and that was dispose of the Canadiens, beating them in six mostly competitive games.
February 8, 2015 | vs. Montreal Canadiens | Average Ticket Price = $307 | Get-in Price = $111
The third most expensive game on the list is another meeting with the Habs, this time in early February. The average price is $307, just $13 cheaper than the November 22nd game, though the get-in price is $15 cheaper at $126.
January 31, 2015 | vs. Los Angeles Kings | Average Ticket Price = $288 | Get-in Price = $103
The defending Stanley Cup champions will make a visit to Boston on January 31st, just before the All-Star break. Tickets are available for $103 to see Jonathan Quick and company in a potential preview of this year’s Stanley Cup. Bruins fans would be more than happy to end up facing the Kings in the postseason, as it will mean they have won the Eastern Conference.
March 7, 2015 | Philadelphia Flyers | Average Ticket Price = $287 | Get-in Price = $103
And rounding out the top five most expensive games is the March 7th meeting with the Flyers. These two teams have had several classic clashes in the past, including the demise of the 2009-10 Bruins after leading the Flyers 3-0 in the Eastern Conference semifinals and ultimately losing the final four games of the series. There’s always bad blood between the two teams and for just $103, you’ll be able to see it live!
