Former Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard is about to begin his next chapter in hockey. Savard’s career came to an unfortunate end in 2010-11 as he battled post-concussion syndrome, but he has now accepted a position to become a scout for the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League.

This is great news for all involved. Savard is a great hockey mind who enjoyed an impressive, yet abbreviated NHL career. It’s great to see him land a job where he’ll have the opportunity to thrive. He may not be able to lace up the skates personally, but he could be an influential component in the development and recruitment of young skaters.
As for the Ottawa 67s, the organization picks up a tremendous asset who brings a great level of hockey knowledge to the fold. They also pick up a ton of positive PR for giving Savard his next opportunity.
The Ottawa 67s finished 2013-14 with a 23-39-6 record. They’ve had two extremely disappointing seasons and are looking to get back on the right track. The addition of Savard is an outstanding start.
