Happy Holidays! The NHL’s Christmas break resulted in a small sample of fights to choose from, but we think there’s still some strong ones in this week’s batch. Is our top fight in this week’s installment a Fight of the Year candidate? You be the judge.
5. Kyle Chipchura (ARI) vs Steve Pinizzotto (EDM) – Dec. 23rd
This fight is all about the ending. Hardly any punches are thrown in this wrestling match, but the conclusion looks like something straight out of Rocky III. The punches knock both men off of their skates and wrap up this one in a hurry.
4. Jay Harrison (WPG) vs Daniel Carcillo (CHI) – Dec. 23rd
If you’re not a fan of Carcillo, you’re going to love Harrison after watching this fight. Carcillo is completely overwhelmed and is dominated by Harrison. The fight wraps up with Carcillo tossed like a small child.
3. Tye McGinn (SJ) vs Clayton Stoner (ANA) – Dec. 22nd
Stoner is the victor in this scrap, but you have to give McGinn credit for battling as hard as he did considering he lost his helmet as soon as the first punch was thrown. Solid fight by both men.
2. Tim Gleason (CAR) vs Jordin Tootoo (NJ) – Dec. 23rd
The Devils and Hurricanes haven’t had much go their way this season, but this quick yet fiery battle between Gleason and Tootoo is one of the best of the year.
1. Milan Lucic (BOS) vs Dalton Prout (CBJ) – Dec. 27th
Lucic’s name has been floated in a few trade rumors of late and it appears to have struck a cord in the Boston forward. Well, at least when it comes to throwing punches. That’s not to say Prout is bad here – he’s not – but Lucic wins in a fight which may pop back up in a few months when we review the year’s best bouts.
