Welcome to the 10th installment of Hockey Fights of the Week from the 2014-15 season. As we head into the Holidays, what better way to prepare to spend time with relatives than by watching a bunch of hockey players beat each other up? This week is all about lopsided fights where it’s easy to see who was the victor.
5. Mark Borowiecki (OTT) vs Tyson Strachan (BUF) – Dec. 15th
What’s more impressive here: How easily Strachan dispatches Borowiecki or how high the Sabres defenseman chucks his glove? This isn’t the best fight, but it is pretty impressive how lopsided things are.
4. Cody McLeod (COL) vs Bobby Farnham (PIT) – Dec. 18th
This fight sees both men lose their feet, but it ends on a sour note as McLeod throws several punches after Farnham is down on the ice. It’s always uncomfortable to watch fights ends like this one, but we have to give McLeod credit for maintaining the upper hand over Farnham from start to finish.
3. Erik Gudbranson (FLA) vs Steve Downie (PIT) – Dec. 20th
Though the Mitchell-Letang fight stole the headlines after Mitchell hit Letang with his own helmet, this was the better fight between the Panthers and Penguins. Downie isn’t a horrible fighter, but he’s dominated by Gudbranson here and it’s not even close.
2. Tom Wilson (WAS) vs Dalton Prout (CBJ) – Dec. 18th
We’re not sure what Wilson said to Prout to spark this altercation, but he certainly paid for it. The beating Prout dishes out is frightening.
1. Nicolas Deslauriers (BUF) vs Mark Stuart (WIN) – Dec. 16th
The Sabres haven’t won many games this season, but they won two fights in this week’s installment. Stuart holds his own and appears to have the advantage, but Deslauriers finishes with a bang and drops Stuart to the ice.
