Earlier we discussed the Buffalo Sabres and their poor effort (to say the least) against the Anaheim Ducks which resulted in only 12 total shots. You don’t really need to juxtapose their laughable performance with anything to understand just how bad it was, but we were provided with a comparison too good to pass up.
Steven Stamkos recorded a hat trick in an impressive 7-1 win by the Lightning over the Canadiens. Stamkos scoring almost as many goals in one night as the Sabres as a team have through three games (4) is noteworthy, but it’s not the best comparison.
So Stamkos had 12 shots… Tied with Buffalo… That's kind of incredible

That puts things in perspective. An epic night for Stamkos is made that much more impressive when you consider how he stacks up against the lowly Sabres.
