A lot of NHL stars were Tweeting about the NFL during the league’s first weekend of games. Evander Kane was one of them as he posted a stirring Tweet about the Washington Redskins. Kane’s Tweet got the Internet buzzing, not because of his slam on Washington’s offense, but because he chose to take a stand against the team’s name/mascot.
The Washington R******* are allergic to the redzone. Wow.

As you might imagine, Kane’s Tweet was met with a very mixed response. Some stood in favor, others blasted Kane for his position on the topic. At the very least, Kane’s message should get people talking and it may even help some see just how offensive the term can be.
