Attendance for Panthers opener is a franchise low

We’re only a couple of games into the 2014-15 season and it may already be time to sound the alarm for the Florida Panthers. The opener – a game which should yield one of the largest attendance figures of the year – barely drew a crowd.

This shouldn’t be that big of a surprise considering the Panthers blocked huge sections in their arena with curtains and tarps. Still, that number is shockingly low for an opener. Management has stated that they plan to draw fans in by putting a winning product on the ice and not with gimmicks and promotions. That plan may eventually pay off, but for now it may result in some ridiculously small crowds.
