Per user meandyouandx, these are rules:
After 1-1 score at end of regulation. O/T format was 1 min periods starting 4 on 4, then 3 on 3, 2 on 2 and it went to 1-1.
In the fourth OT session, it was 1-1, and there was a penalty. The officials decided to award the Orange team a powerplay, by adding a another player. So, it was 2-on-1 for the championship.
Here is what happened next as told on Reddit hockey:
Just after the faceoff it is clear the red player is not going to lay down. shitty call and impossible situation? yes. But he is gonna go down swinging.
Through a little luck and fighting for the puck, red player manages to get the puck down to the other end
[He ]Came around in front of the net and wired one in.
