You can't complain about wasteful spending in the advertising industry. Via Reddit Hockey comes this example of belt tightening. Sidney Crosby needs to film an ad for an unnamed company. Ad agency is in California. Film crew is in California. The Consol Energy Center is in Pittsburgh. What to do?
Commandeer the Honda Center and paint the ice to look like Consol, of course! Which is cheaper, shipping a film crew across the country or having one person fly to California? The latter, of course. I realize that this is an affront to Ducks fans – frankly, if Scottrade were painted to look like anywhere else I'd have a fit – but hey, the ad came in under budget, I'm sure.
It's back to normal, celebrating the Ducks' 20th anniversary, but I'm sure that as a matter of principle Ducks fans would rather this not happen again.
