Mike Yeo wasn’t happy with Adam Oates consulting Wild players

The Minnesota Wild canned Mike Yeo on February 13th to give a boost to a team which had been wildly inconsistent. The team is on the right track under new coach John Torchetti, responding by winning four of their last five games. In a revealing interview with Michael Russo of the Minnesota Star Tribune, Yeo admitted […]

Which 3 teams should be buyers at the deadline?

The NHL trade deadline is quickly approaching. We recently covered which teams should be sellers at the deadline and now it’s time to shift our focus to the teams who could be building for a Cup run. Here’s a list of three teams who could be buyers at the deadline.

In an effort to gain some funds to create a distillery with his son, former NHL goaltender Ed Belfour auctioned off 66 personal items of hockey memorabilia via auction, including his Olympic gold medal from the 2002 Salt Lake City Games. The Shinkaruk-Granlund trade is a confusing one for the Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks need to rebuild and there’s pretty much no doubting that at this point. The club sits under .500 with just over 20 games to play, and with the trade deadline upcoming, you’d think they’d move their veteran pieces and embrace a youth movement and allow some of their young prospects they’ve developed in […]

Report: At least one team has made an offer for Andrew Ladd

The Winnipeg Jets sit dead last in the Central Division and as the trade deadline approaches it’s becoming clear they are sellers. One of the most attractive pieces the Jets could make available is captain Andrew Ladd. A big reason why Ladd’s name has come up in trade rumors, aside from Winnipeg’s record, is he’s […]

Tortorella using conflict to push honesty with Blue Jackets

Columbus Blue Jackets  head coach John Tortorella is no stranger to conflict, and it seems he’s still adopting that approach despite being much calmer in Columbus. In an excellent piece by Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, Tortorella opens up about the changes he’s made. Torts discusses becoming more of a teacher, while not doing […]

Report: PK Subban isn’t going anywhere

The Montreal Canadiens are a hot mess full of dysfunction as the team has completely collapsed following Carey Price’s possibly season-ending injury. Head coach Michel Therrien called out star defenseman P.K. Subban in Wednesday’s loss to the Colorado Avalanche, saying “an individual mistake” cost the team the game. With that relationship on the rocks, and the […]

Dennis Wideman’s 20-game suspension upheld by the NHL

With the suspension, Wideman will forfeit more $564,516.20 in salary. Below video of the incident in question. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWNfGrWBMd8 Hughes further reports at Wideman’s hearing, the NHLPA argued he suffered a concussion […]

Evander Kane on hockey: “I think I can take it more seriously”

Evander Kane is ready to put yet another incident behind him. The Buffalo Sabres forward was suspended by the team for tonight’s matchup against the Ottawa Senators after Kane overslept and missed practice yesterday. The reason he slept in? He was busy partying at NBA All-Star festivities in Toronto. “If you watch me play on the […]

Tale of two franchises: The rising Toronto Maple Leafs and the directionless Montreal Canadiens

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens were both stomped on in games last night. The Leafs gave up seven unanswered goals, as Patrick Kane (four points) and the Chicago Blackhawks dominated them in a 7-2 blowout loss. The Canadiens had a comparable result while playing the middling Arizona Coyotes as a team which has […]

Alex Burrows denies reports suggesting he’d waive his no-trade clause

Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows has gone on record to say he doesn’t want to waive his no-trade clause and wants to remain with the Canucks. Reports of Burrows possibly approaching the Canucks surfaced when Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.ca reported during his headlines segment that Burrows may be willing to waive his no-trade clause should Canucks […]

Report: Carey Price could be done for the season

The Canadiens sit three points out of a playoff spot with a 27-24-4 record, and are still undefined as a playoff contender. One of the big reasons why that’s the case is the status of Carey Price. His MCL injury has caused the Canadiens to falter, but as bad as Montreal can be, with Price […]

Nazem Kadri has been fined $5,000 by the NHL for making a throat-slashing gesture towards Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano during Tuesday night’s game in Calgary. Nazem Kadri said following the game, he didn’t remember the incident, and was just mad about getting crunched by Giordano on a previous play. “It’s not something that I […]
