Video: Red Wings score winner with a broken stick

The Detroit Red Wings OT winner against the St. Louis Blues was pretty controversial. Justin Abdelkader tapped in the winner, but the review clearly showed he was using a broken stick. Under the NHL’s rules, a goal can not be counted if it’s scored with an illegal – in this case broken – stick.

Amazingly, this goal wasn’t even reviewed and the broadcast didn’t acknowledge this shouldn’t have been a good goal.
