The 2015 Winter Classic between the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals in Nationals Park is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm EST. This time may end up being pushed back an hour or two because the glare on the ice may be too strong at the current scheduled puck drop.
The Winter Classic is currently scheduled to start at 1 p.m., but players were told that it's likely to be pushed back because of glare.

2:45 and the sun glare is mostly gone. I’d expect a delay until around now on Thursday, but you never know. pic.twitter.com/Ph22uGKWOK

Isn’t the sun and a potential glare something organizers would take into account prior to selecting the start time? Glare was also a topic of debate in previous Winter Classics. Fans have questioned why the games haven’t been held at night and thus eliminating the glare topic completely, but the NHL has aimed to make the Winter Classic a daytime event which doesn’t have to compete with the strongest college bowl games.
