Steve Downie scores, is shoved into the boards by Dustin Byfuglien

Dustin Byfuglien should expect a call from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety. After Steve Downie tallied a goal for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Byfuglien checked him awkwardly into the boards. As you might expect, Downie wasn’t too happy and tried to jump Big Buff.

The punishment during the game was a fitting example of more poor officiating as the two men each received two-minute penalties. Byfuglien easily could have been tossed after that dangerous play.

It sounds like there won’t be a suspension coming, but a fine might be.
