If Jared Spurgeon’s goal on Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils isn’t named the best of the year, it at least deserves to be in the conversation.
After the puck deflected and hit off the opposing netminder, Spurgeon tipped the puck down to himself before batting in an absolute beauty of goal.
I’ve watched a lot of hockey and I don’t think I’ve seen a goal quite like this one. Spurgeon’s ability to keep the puck in front of him with his hand and to then hit it out of the air with his stick is just amazing. If you look closely, Spurgeon uses his fingers to knock the puck to himself which is an even more remarkable feat.
