Ryan Dzingel needed reconstructive surgery for his ear after taking a shot from Erik Karlsson to the head during the Ottawa Senators’ game on Thursday against the Boston Bruins. Dzingel was initially stitched up and returned to the game, but he needed additional treatment following the game.

After the game, it was revealed that Dzingel had multiple lacerations and that his ear had to be reconstructed.

Hockey fans will once again rally around the fact that hockey players are as tough as any athlete in sports, but this really is a testament to that fact. Dzingel finished out the game with an ear which needed reconstructive surgery. That’s just crazy.
