It’s official – The newest team in the NHL is the Vegas Golden Knights. The announcement finally came (after some hilarious technical failures) and hockey fans quickly took to their social media accounts to sound off on the newest franchise. We at PDL were no different.

I’m a fan. I like that they’re just called ‘Vegas’. We were all gonna call them that anyway, so I appreciate them saving us some time. There were a lot of potentially funny options, but the NHL isn’t usually about having fun. I’ll settle for the name and logo being less of a disaster than the announcement show.

Hey, it could be worse. The Golden Knights is going to rank atop the NHL names leaderboard, but do you know what? It’s much better than the Desert Knights. The logo is great. The colors are fitting. Now lets play some hockey and see how Vegas in hockey functions.
P.S. they should have been the Black Aces.

The logo is terrific. Golden Knights is okay, but it sounds like the team was named after an Eddie Murphy movie. Not one of the good ones, either. One from the 90’s. Black Knights or Silver Knights would have worked, but Golden must be a Vegas thing. I can deal with it. But no more ceremonies. That was as painful to watch as a bad Eddie Murphy movie.

I was personally never a fan of the Knights name because I felt it was a bit too similar to the Kings. Now that it’s official and the adjective is Golden as opposed to some of the other horrible options (Desert), it’s starting to grow on me. The logo goes a long way in helping the name really stick and they did an outstanding job on that. I also really like the fact they’re simply Vegas. Everyone already shortens it, so why not?

Big fan of the logo and the name itself isn’t too exciting but like Liam said, it could be a whole lot worse. At this point lets just fast forward to the expansion draft so we can make fun of their draft choices as soon as possible. What a weird night that will be for everyone to watch.
