Wayne Gretzky will appear on The Simpsons in December

The greatest hockey player to ever skate in the NHL will be making an appearance on The Simpsons in early December. Wayne Gretzky is scheduled to guest star on the longest-running American sitcom on December 4th in an episode that’s titled The Last Traction Hero.

Gretzky’s appearance, which will take place in episode 605 of the show’s incredible run, hasn’t been fully detailed, but the show’s producers seem pretty excited.

Executive producer Al Jean had nothing but praise for Gretzky, as seen on Sportsnet:

“He’s smart, funny and we felt like (Gretzky) must have when he met Gordie Howe as a kid.”

Say what you will about the quality of The Simpsons and how it has declined over the years, but they’re still pulling in plenty of impressive guest stars.

Will Gretzky’s appearance be as memorable as the infamous photo of Gordie Howe from the episode Bart the Lover? Probably not, but it’s still fun to see an icon of the game being featured.
