The Las Vegas NHL team has set a date for the club’s name and logo reveal.
Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the team will unveil the team’s name and logo on Nov. 22 near the club’s arena. Here are the official details per that report.
“The unveiling will be 5:30 p.m. at Toshiba Plaza outside of T-Mobile Arena. Team owner Bill Foley will be there to make the announcement along with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. Team general manager George McPhee will also participate in the event.
Admission is free. The team is expected to have limited amounts of merchandise available for sale at the announcement.”
Now’s the time to bet on which variation of “Knights” Las Vegas’ team will go with. The leading candidate thus far is the Las Vegas Desert Knight’s, as the team’s registered multiple domain names for the name. Owner Bill Foley has trademarked Desert Knights, Silver Knights and Golden Knights. It’s also possible Foley is just using the names as a distraction and the club goes with a non-Knights name, such as the Black Aces (my favorite) or the Gamblers. With the team situated in Vegas – there’s plenty of appropriate monikers. The NHL has stated they’re against gambling-related names, but we can’t help but hope.
Regardless of the team name, it’s exciting to see another NHL team join the league. Hopefully, Las Vegas’ name and logo are a jackpot (dodges tomatoes).
