The craziest stats from the Canadiens’ 10-0 loss to the Blue Jackets

Talk about a dramatic way to lose your first game of the season. The Canadiens got shelled 10-0 by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. Safe to say, the box score resulted in some interesting numbers.

– Al Montoya allowed all 10 goals on 50 shots, dropping his save percentage from a pristine .955 to just over .900 at .908. His GAA jumped from 1.47 to 3.15. Ugly.

– Perhaps, most sad for Canadiens fans, it’s the first time the club gave up at least 10 goals since the infamous Patrick Roy/Mario Tremblay trade-game.

– Cam Atkinson took seven shots on net, a team high, and didn’t record a point.

– Look how sad Montreal’s Twitter account was 🙁

…and hope happy Columbus was!

– Despite six goals at even strength, Shea Weber, Torrey Mitchell, Alexei Emelin, Bryan Flynn and Phillip Danault all recorded plus/minuses of 0.

– The Blue Jackets set a franchise record with their ninth goal of the game.

– Andrei Markov and Jeff Petry weren’t so lucky, both posting a -4 rating.

– 173, the number of cigarettes former Penguins defenseman Ryan Whitney predicts for Michel Therrien.

– The Canadiens gave up more goals tonight (10), than the Canucks have scored in their last nine games (nine).

– For advanced stats followers, Al Montoya might have posted the worst game score ever.

And then there were jokes.
