While Bill Simmons’ show on HBO has been middling at best, he has had on several interesting guests who discussed topics that normally wouldn’t be covered. As the hockey season kicked off, Wayne Gretzky and Bill Burr went on Any Given Wednesday to discuss all kinds of topics, including what they have to do to make the game better.
Burr brings up an interesting point. Does the NHL have to compete with the NBA? From a marketing standpoint, they aren’t on par with the NBA, but they are able to compete in other arenas.
The sport is faster and better than ever, so what else does it need to jump into a completely different lexicon?
