Tarasenko thinks “nothing” of Blues’ quick start

The St. Louis Blues have gotten off to a fast start so far in 2016-17, beating the Chicago Blackhawks on the road and the Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers at home. Their most recent victory over the Rangers was particularly noteworthy as the team lost three players to injury during the game (Kyle Brodziak, Jori Lehtera and Carl Gunnarsson) and failed to record a single shot in the third period.

[link_box id=”22277″ site_id=”17″ layout=”link-box-third” alignment=”alignright”]Despite their 3-0 start, Vladimir Tarasenko is quick to point out that the season is a marathon and that he thinks “nothing” of the team’s early success.

That’s the big takeaway from Tarasenko’s statement, but he did elaborate on his thoughts as seen on STLToday.com.

“Nothing. It’s three games, and we have 79 more. Of course it’s really good to start with three wins, but we have a tough road trip coming up and there is no time to celebrate. It’s always nice when you win and come back to the locker room and everybody is smiling around you. We try to keep going the same way.”

Tarasenko is right on the money. The NHL season is a long one featuring many twists and turns before the playoffs in the spring. Considering the Blues’ recent history of thriving in the regular season before having disappointing playoff efforts (excluding their deep run in 2015-16), Tarasenko’s beliefs should be held by the entire Blues roster.
