Things didn’t go too well for the Chicago Blackhawks in their home opener. Hosting the St. Louis Blues, the team which ended the Blackhawks’ playoff run in the first round last season, the club fell to their St. Louis rival by a 5-2 score. The Blues were credited with two empty net goals, but the last one should have been credited to the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks kept the net empty after allowing an empty net goal only to watch Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith combine to put the puck in their own net.
Patrick Kane may have been able to make a play to keep the puck out, but it looks like he gave up on it pretty quickly.
Scottie Upshall was credited with the goal even though he was on the bench when the puck actually went in.
