Video: Jonathan Quick tries to fight the Sharks, leaves game injured

Jonathan Quick has always had a bit of a temper and it was on display right away to start the 2016-17 season. In the second of NBC’s Wednesday Rivalry Night games, the Sharks hosted the Kings and tempers boiled over after Logan Couture tied things up in the first period.

As the Sharks celebrated, Quick rushed out of his crease and tried to fight the first Sharks skater he could find.

The goal, which wasn’t called a goal on the ice but was eventually ruled to be a good goal, apparently struck a nerve in Quick. No one knows what was being said, but it was enough to get another bizarre (and kind of funny) outburst from Quick. Perhaps he was just unhappy with Joe Pavelski skating by and poking in the rebound, but that might be a stretch considering the initial shot from Couture was initially ruled to have not gone in.

However, this story has an unresolved ending as Quick left the game with a “lower-body injury” after the first period.

Did he injure himself trying to fight or was this just a coincidence? Either way, it’s not a good look for Quick who exited after stopping 14-of-15 shots while also trying to brawl with the Sharks.
