U.S. President Barack Obama hosts the National Hockey League champion Pittsburgh Penguins to celebrate their Stanley Cup victory October 6, 2016 in Washington, DC. The Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks in six games in the 2016 NHL Finals, the fourth time the franchise has won the Stanley Cup.

Obama jokes about the Presidents’ Trophy and Phil Kessel

The Pittsburgh Penguins visited the White House to celebrate their Stanley Cup victory and President Obama had some pretty funny remarks for the team and Gary Bettman.

First, Obama celebrated how big of an achievement this was … especially for Phil Kessel.

That’s a pretty solid joke for someone who doesn’t really follow hockey.

Obama followed it up by questioning the NHL commish on the Presidents’ Trophy.

Fair point, Mr. President.

We’ll rally around anyone who pokes fun at Gary Bettman.
