Dmitry Kulikov suffered a nasty looking injury on Friday night in the Buffalo Sabres’ 8-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Sabres defenseman was skating along the boards when Leafs forward Colin Greening checked him. Kulikov slid against the boards, opening the Maple Leafs bench door. Kulikov immediately went down on the ice holding his back.
The painful-looking injury turned out to be a bruise.
“He’s got a bruise on his backside, but at this point in time it’s not more than a bruise,” Sabres head coach Dan Bylsma told the Buffalo News.
Kulikov missed practice on Saturday, but for good reason. Hopefully, the injury doesn’t sideline him too long.
