The summer leads to a lot of tiny hockey announcements, but some can lead to fun, summertime hype. The debut of the Winnipeg Jets new jerseys for the Heritage Classic is one of those moments. The Jets went back and dipped into their WHA roots and used the Jets 1.0 logo for their impending Heritage Classic match with the Edmonton Oilers.

I mean just look at that sweater. It is amazing. It is modern enough for us to appreciate it while being old school enough for us to feel a hint of nostalgia as well.

Some people aren’t too happy about the fact that the Jets are using their original logo since the Jets moved to Arizona back in 1996. I think rather than having a gripe with the franchise, they should realize that this is more of a homage to the town itself and not a slap in the face for the Coyotes.
In addition to the debut of this jersey, they also released the Oilers jersey as well.

More than a few people made comments about the “C” and the number placement. Taylor Hall is gone, so is this maybe Jordan Eberle? Not something to worry about but it’s vexing nonetheless.
Both teams unveiled their alumni rosters that will play before the Heritage Classic and they are chock full of great names like Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, Teemu Selanne, Ron Wilson and Teppo Numminen. I might need to start taking bets on which game gets more viewers – the alumni game or the Heritage Classic?
