Playoff hockey is fast, exciting and sometimes pretty bizarre. Game 1 between the Blues and Sharks entered the bizarre category fairly quickly as David Backes and Joe Thornton yanked on each other’s beard.
That’s a new take on the usual pushing and shoving which accompanies playoff games.
Backes said he was checking to see if Thornton's beard was real. "It checked out," he said.
