Video: Brian Boyle lights up Thomas Hickey, scores OT winner

Thomas Hickey had himself quite a night in Game 3. He probably had two of the most influential plays of the night and they were for two completely different reasons. First, he dished out a vicious hit on Jonathan Drouin.

This time he was the victim of the big hit. The person laying down the hit? Brian Boyle – all 6’7″ of him.

Following the hit, Boyle joined the play and chipped in the winner.

From what I can tell, I don’t see the head as a principle point of contact. It doesn’t look to be too late either. I don’t think there is a penalty here and I don’t think this will receive a call from the league. Tough to decide in a split second, but that is hockey and I think the referees got it right.
