The best way to appreciate the speed and intensity of the NHL is to watch it live from the first couple rows. The broadcast on TV usually fails to capture just how strong and fast the players are out on the ice, but that rule was broken when the broadcast picked up a big hit by Ryan Ellis on Tomas Hertl.
That video may be the best way for fans to see just how powerful some of the checks can be without actually lacing up the skates. Hertl’s face/head slams against the glass after making contact with Ellis.
