Jaromir Jagr hasn’t scored in 34 straight playoff games

Jaromir Jagr is one of the most prolific scorers in NHL history, ranking third all-time with 749 career goals. That’s an insane marker.

The 44-year-old keeps coming back and continues to be an effective top-six winger, despite his age. Jagr continued his success in 2015-16, having a great year in his first full season with the Florida Panthers, scoring 27 goals and 66 points.

While he continues to put up impressive regular season stats, surprisingly, Jagr’s goal scoring in the playoffs has dipped. As Jason Gregor of TSN 1260 pointed out, Jagr hasn’t scored a playoff goal in 34 straight playoff games, with his last goal coming in 2012:

When I read the tweet, the first thought that crossed my mind was, “There’s no way that’s possible,” but it’s true. Jagr’s last playoff goal came in 2012 when he was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. Here’s that goal:

Jagr has since gone completely scoreless in 22 games with the Boston Bruins during their 2012-13 Stanley Cup run. He’s also gone scoreless in three games so far in Florida’s opening matchup against the New York Islanders.

It’s not like Jagr’s a total dud in the playoffs either. He’s scored 78 goals in 205 career playoff games. But recently, he just hasn’t been able to find the back of the net.

Will Jagr continue his scoreless streak? I doubt it. He’s fired eight shots on goal in three games against New York, so he’s not backing down from trying to score. The streak is wild, but for one of the greatest goal-scorers in the history of the game, it’s only a matter of time until Jagr finds the back of the net in the postseason.
