Ryan White is starting to get a reputation around the league and it isn’t anything to write home about. He is adding to his less than sterling reputation with a hit on Brooks Orpik that left the defenseman dazed and confused.
The hit is borderline in every sense of the term. Is the puck already gone? Yes. Did White come all the away across the ice to make the hit? Yes. Is there any targeting of the head? Maybe. White changed his angle when he makes contact with Orpik.
Then again, these are the type of hits Orpik is known for throwing. I am not saying that he deserves the hit and possible side effects from it, just that this may be a nudge that puts a sneaky dirty player back in line.
