The St. Louis Blues battled the Dallas Stars in the first game of a home-and-home set in St. Louis on Saturday, and if the Blues do wind up catching the Stars in the Central Division, this might be a game they look back on as a big reason. And the play that Kevin Shattenkirk made in overtime will be front and center, as Patrick Sharp had deked Jake Allen out of his shorts to give himself an open net to win the game … only to have this happen:
That was incredible. To come from behind the goal line to knock that puck away out of mid-air takes some sweet hands and some amazing hockey sense and presence.
The Blues would go on to win in a great nine round shootout, which wouldn’t have been possible without Shattenkirk’s amazing play.
