James Neal may be getting a call from the Department of Player Safety after his headshot on Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano. While playing the puck between his skates, Giordano was completely unaware of Neal who was rushing in and took a brutal hit to the side of his head.
That’s a pretty bad hit from Neal. It’s difficult to tell what his intent was, but it’s fair to assume he wasn’t trying to be malicious and was simply caught in a bad spot as Giordano made an unexpected move with the puck. Regardless, the end result was ugly.
