In what could only be construed as villain-on-villain crime, Brandon Prust took some frustration out on Brad Marchand in the waning minutes of a 4-0 victory by Boston on Saturday night by using his stick to , a sensitive area.
First off, ouch.
Second off, it’s always fun to hear NESN announcer Jack Edwards go off whenever there’s a crime committed against humanity (which is code for: “somebody wronged a Boston Bruin”). “I hope Brandon Prust has a nice suspension,” goes on the list of great Edwards lines.
Third, I’m sure that there is a faction of the hockey world that enjoyed that (think Tie Domi sucker punching Ulf Samuelsson many years ago) as Brad Marchand can be, let’s say … abrasive at times. (And not somebody that you would want as your son, according to a certain head coach.) But Brandon Prust will probably have a suspension to enjoy, and the Canucks will wonder if it was all worth it if the suspension is more than a couple of games. All for a self-indulgent act.
Of course, Prust and his teammates will probably rue the fact that Brandon will be suspended while whatever Marchand did to “earn” that stick to the groin during Saturday’s game will go unpunished. The cycle continues.
