QMJHL player accidentally runs himself over with his own car prior to game

Here’s a crazy story out of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenseman Nicolas Dumulong parked his car at K.C. Irving Regional Centre prior to his team’s game against the Saint John Sea Dogs. Shortly after exiting his vehicle and beginning to walk away, he noticed the car was moving. Dumulong tried to stop the car which was picking up speed, but it ran over both of his legs.

Dumulong spoke about the incident in an interview via acadienouvelle, which has been translated below:

“I just had a manual car and I was in a hurry to get to the arena because I was a little tight.

At first, I was on adrenaline. I got up to go, but I felt big pain in the legs. It was a new car and this was my first instinct to try to stop it. I am an impulsive guy. I acted without thinking.”

Several teammates witnessed the scene and were reportedly shaken to see their teammate ran over. The team made a psychologist available for those who witnessed the accident.

Thankfully, this story has a mostly happy ending. Dumulong is already back on the ice and skating even though the incident occurred just days ago. However, we would recommend he stick with an automatic transmission in the future.
