Anaheim Ducks to retire Teemu Selanne’s number

Hopefully Teemu Selanne isn’t seriously considering playing in the KHL this season – if he does, he’ll miss his jersey retirement. The Anaheim Ducks are having a Teemu Tribute Night on Sunday, January 11th to honor their franchise’s greatest player. Appropriately enough, it will be against the Winnipeg Jets.

Teemu’s iconic number 8 will be raised to the rafters to celebrate nearly 15 seasons of the Finnish Flash. The universally beloved player and future first-ballot hall of famer has 1,451 NHL games to his name, with 684 goals, 773 assists and 1457 points. He holds 12 Ducks franchise records, including goals (466), assists (549), points (1015), and single season goals (52 in 1997-1998).
