Broadcast Blooper: Washington’s PK unit is ranked 227th

The Washington Capitals have struggled to kill off penalties this season. To say their penalty kill unit needs help would be a vast understatement. However, NESN must think Washington really, really has an awful PK unit.

As seen in their broadcast of the Boston Bruins – Washington Capitals game on Tuesday night, NESN ran a graphic comparing Boston's power play to Washington's penalty kill. Evidently, Washington's PK unit is so bad that it ranks 227th in the NHL – an impressive feat when you factor in that just 30 teams play in the NHL. In reality, Washington ranks 27th, but this goof makes for an excellent broadcast blooper.
