I’m not a Budweiser fan but I may have to reconsider my opinion.
Often considered the one of the biggest television moments of the year, the Super Bowl is a fantastic place, albeit a costly one, to show off commercials for your product. And every year Budweiser jumps into our television sets with creative or memorable commercials. It looks as if the brewery has geared up the horses for another run this Sunday. But rather showing the horses gallop, the frogs talk, or having people scream “wassup”, their focus this year will be hockey.
The commercial that will air sometime during Sunday’s big game has already hit the web in stunning fashion. In the two minute advertisement, the brewery sponsors a flash mob of fans, television crews, and mascots to cover a late night recreational hockey league game in Port Credit, Ontario. What started to be a normal late night game turns out to be a wild production of surprise, emotion, and recognition. Anyone who has participated in any sort of rec. league will appreciate the lengths Budweiser went through to make this a reality.
The only way to describe this commercial is the to repeat the final words of this video. Simply put, “This Is Hockey.”
